Gol Ghar

A restoration project comes with a unique listicle of things that cannot be changed. This beautiful Jaipur residence is one such project that came to us. With half the structure already built and signature arches defining its aesthetic, our task was to weave a new design into the existing fabric without disturbing its original charm. The idea was to create a timeless design that draws inspiration from the existing curved geometry, extending them into newly added spaces that echo the same look and feel. Instead of disrupting the lush garden on the ground floor, a stilt level was introduced, allowing the pleasing greenery to remain untouched while accommodating new functionality above. Using warm brown tones, glass, and carefully curated lighting, the design offers a contemporary take on Jaipur’s architectural language. The warm palette draws from Jaipur’s iconic pink sandstone, while traditional arches and regal motifs are reimagined as cleaner and simpler circular volumes presenting traditional architectural features with a fresh and contemporary take.
